About the Play
Salt Water Moon is set in Coley’s Point , in a tiny outpost on the east coast of Newfoundland. It is a splendid moon-filled August night in 1926. Eighteen-year-old Jacob Mercer has returned from Toronto, hoping to win back his former sweetheart, Mary Snow. Mary, however has become engaged to wealthy Jerome McKenzie, and she is still hurt and bewildered bt=y Jacob’s abrupt departure a year earlier. She will not be easliy wooed…so sit back, listen to the ocean waves, the screeching gulls, tap your toes to the rhythm of a Newfoundland ballad and bask in the silver light of a full moon.
